VSW Expeditie bv orders 6 new steered Talson trailers for furniture transports.

A self-supporting aluminium body, Tridec steered rear axle, 19.5 inch rims, a hardwood floor, sidewalls with tie-down points over the entire surface. VSW Expeditie bv in Enschede (NL) bought six new Talsons that you cannot call “thirteen in a dozen” trailers.

But for us they are now the standard trailers,” laughs Maarten van der Struik, financial director of VSW Expeditie (85 employees, 30 tractor units, 40 trailers). “We have been driving with Talson for almost thirty years and this manufacturer builds them exactly to our specifications. And besides the favorable price/quality ratio, our experience is that the Talson trailers – in the way we use them – hardly wear out and thus last a very long life.”

Van der Struik: “We are specialized in the transport of furniture and pianos. This varies from transport over longer distances to delivering to stores or private individuals. Our Talson trailers are as versatile as the work we do.”

On the long distances, we need to be able to maximize the load volume, and in distribution, maneuverability is crucial – hence the steered rear axle. What applies to all transports is that the load must be optimally secured.”

Using the Talfix system, VSW has developed its own double-loaded floor concept. The entrepreneurs use specially designed wall clips and oval plywood sheets with a depth of 45 cm to create a second loading level. In this way the full loading volume of the Talson TGF is utilized. At VSW’s request, the trailers are equipped with a hardwood floor. This is waxed by VSW, creating a perfectly flat, smooth floor. This allows the fragile loads to be maneuvered without damage. Using special straps fixed to the Talfix system, the drivers secure the furniture to the side walls.

The trailers delivered to VSW Expedition differ slightly from the standard Talson TGF. For example, they have 19.5-inch wheels instead of 22.5 inch, which makes the coupling height 5 cm lower (1050 instead of 1100 mm). This results in additional loading height. The trailers are equipped with extra LED spots in the cargo space, have their own battery pack and a Dhollandia folding slider lift with a capacity of 1500 kg.

Of the six trailers ordered, five have now been delivered, the last will follow later this year.
