Thomas Schäfer named new Chairman of the Advisory Board at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles

The changes in the Volkswagen Group Management Board affect the Advisory Board of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV): Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen brand and Member of the Board of Management for the Volume Brand Group from 1 July 2022, will take over as Chairman of the VWCV Advisory Board on 15 June 2022. He succeeds the current Chairman of the Advisory Board and Group CEO Herbert Diess, who will leave the Board at the end of June.

The Volume Brand Group – with Volkswagen Passenger Cars as the lead brand, ŠKODA, SEAT / CUPRA and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles – plays a key role in the Volkswagen Group’s NEW AUTO strategy. The cooperation between the brands of the Volume Group, which will remain strong, independent brands in future, will be intensified and restructured for even more consistent leverage of the huge potential and synergies. A first step: the CEO of the Volkswagen Passenger Car brand is also the CEO of the Volume Brand Group and a Member of the Board of Management. In this function he will also successively take over the chairmanship of the Supervisory Boards and Advisory Boards of the volume brands concerned.

I look forward to helping to shape this path – and to close cooperation in the brand group.

The Advisory Board of VWCV consists of five employee representatives and five company representatives and meets regularly four times a year. In addition to the members of the Advisory Board, the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Brand Management Board Circle also attends these meetings.

The Board has the task of advising the Brand Management Board of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and the Volkswagen AG Board of Management in all important matters concerning Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ area of business. This includes decisions about the overall brand strategy, the planning round and product planning, the conclusion of cooperation agreements or the establishment and relocation of production facilities.
