At this year’s IAA Transportation, SAF-HOLLAND presented itself on a joint trade fair booth with all its brands for the first time. With the trade fair slogan “SAF-HOLLAND for Better Transportation”, the focus was on the three central topics “More Safety”, “More Sustainability” and “More Partnership”. The group of companies picked up on the greatest challenges in the commercial vehicles industry and emphasised how important the collaboration between the different brands is.
The joint presentation by all brands of the SAF-HOLLAND Group illustrated how effectively the synergies between the brands are used. According to Christoph Günter, President EMEA & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at SAF-HOLLAND, the close links between the actors in the group of companies (SAF, Holland, Haldex, Assali Stefen, Axscend, GreenSteering, KLL, Neway, SEM, Tecma, V.Orlandi and York) were very evident at IAA Transportation: “With this strong alliance, we are in the best position to drive the change in the transport industry. Together, we work on solutions for connectivity, electrification and autonomous driving. By combining our technological know-how, we can develop even more efficient and innovative solutions,” says Günter. SAF-HOLLAND has been cooperating with Haldex for many years in the area of disc brakes for trailers. From the 4th quarter of 2024, one of the largest truck manufacturers will be installing this disc brake in its trucks as standard.
More safety with novel products
Under the premise of “More Safety”, SAF-HOLLAND presented the fifth wheels from the HOLLAND brand: They use a visual safety indicator and an integrated interlock device to ensure a reliable connection between truck and trailer. The modular truck brake technology from Haldex, the ModulT system, impressed in particular with its substantial weight savings and cost benefits. Another focus was the EB+ 4.0 trailer brake system from Haldex, which helps to reduce tyre failures through integration of a TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) gateway and increases safety on the road.
Focus on sustainability
Products like the SAF TRAKr electric regenerative braking axle, which converts kinetic energy into electric energy to significantly support the reduction of CO₂ emissions, were also linked to the topic of sustainability. The electrohydraulic steering system from VSE – with low weight and an optimum steering angle – also contributes to reduced fuel consumption. The biodegradable special lubricant HOLLAND RECOLUBE BIOPOWER SKX 023 provides eco-friendly lubrication for fifth wheels.
Enthusiastic trade fair visitors
“The visitors at IAA Transportation were particularly impressed by the variety and power of innovation of the presented products,” emphasises Günter. The harmonious integration of the brands, the highly developed safety solutions and the sustainable technologies were met with great approval: “Our customers benefit from the expansion of the group of companies through a more extensive product portfolio and an expanded market presence in different regions.”
He explains that this will make it possible to react to customer requirements more flexibly and quickly in the future and to offer customised solutions from a single source.
Bottom line: a strong trade fair presentation that unites synergies and developments
SAF-HOLLAND, Haldex and all newly acquired brands from the SAF-HOLLAND Group showed themselves united in a strong partnership at the event in Hanover. With their products and solutions for safety and sustainability, they are in touch with the latest trends. The synergies of the group of companies received a good response from the trade visitors.
