The SAF-HOLLAND Group has updated its Design Manual for the SAF INTRA series and added new products. The reference guide provides vehicle manufacturers with all relevant dimensions and technical data for different air suspensions and axle versions, and for the first time also for the hydraulically driven SAF INTRA CD TRAK axle.
It is an indispensable reference guide for the engineering departments of vehicle manufacturers working with SAF-HOLLAND systems – the Design Manual for the SAF INTRA series. It supplies all important details for the different axle versions and the air suspension, for example spring and axle dimensions as well as different combination options. Engineers can also find all the information they require on axle lifts, air suspension components and brakes. Installation and welding instructions as well as setting values complete the contents.
In the manual for the first time: SAF INTRA CD TRAK
In addition to updates and revisions, the 2020 edition also contains new products: For the first time, vehicle manufacturers can find all the information on the hydraulically driven SAF INTRA CD TRAK axle. This axle takes the drive into the trailer and supports the tractor unit on difficult terrain at the press of a button. “With the Design Manual, we emphasize how important customer service is to us. We reliably provide vehicle manufacturers with all the details they need for their work. With the new edition, we are now also updating them with respect to our product innovations,” says Klaas-Jan Boschma, Manager Application Engineer at SAF-HOLLAND.
The INTRA S9-3718 axle version for maximum axle loads up to 9,000 kg for single 19.5” tyres is also new in the Design Manual. Compared to the 420×180 brake or the single 22.5” tyres, the new INTRADRUM version saves 17 kg of weight. The optimised wheel end for INTRADISC plus INTEGRAL axles with disc brakes can also be found in the SAF-HOLLAND compendium for the first time. The new overview for vehicle manufacturers also provides the technical details for the new, adaptable brake calipers SBS 2220 H01 and Knorr ST6.

Online Manual: quick access to additional information
SAF has been regularly publishing its Design Manual since the 1960s. Regularly updated versions of the compendium for the suspensions from the SAF INTRA series have been issued since the 1990s. The 91 pages of the Online Manual offer a large number of hyperlinks to allow fast browsing of the document and provide access to additional information.
