Karsan highlights its technologies at the UITP Summit 2025

A leading company in transforming global public transport into electric and autonomous vehicles, Karsan continues to participate in international events. Known for its efforts for introducing public transport to next-gen technologies in line its vision of “being one step ahead in the future of mobility”, Karsan attended the UITP Global Public Transport Summit 2025, which was held from 15-18 June in the German city of Hamburg. The summit is attended by more than 10,000 participants from over 100 countries, who find the opportunity to hear the opinions and insights of about 340 professionals from the sector. Karsan attended the UITP Summit 2025, a world’s leading fair in the public transport sector, with its e-JEST, Autonomous e-ATAK and its new model e-ATA LE (Class 2).

Suburban areas and neighbouring cities meet an electric comfort: Karsan e-ATA LE

Specially designed to meet the dynamic needs of close-range intercity lines and distant inner-city lines, e-ATA LE opens the doors to a whole new era in public transport from city centres to suburban areas and neighbouring cities. e-ATA LE provides a cinema-like comfort with its 41 seats, all facing forward and equipped with safety belts and upholstery foam, not to mention its spacious inner space. All of these, along with its capacity to carry up to 90 passengers – including standing passengers, make e-ATA LE perfect for busy lines. Offering four different battery options, a battery with a capacity of up to 528 kWh being one of them, e-ATA LE can cover a distance of over 500 kilometres in real conditions of use. e-ATA LE promises you maximum operational efficiency. Firstly, its 250 kW engine power and 22,000 Nm torque ensure a high performance even when climbing challenging hills. Secondly, it includes a fast charging infrastructure of up to 200 kW and a pantograph charger that can charge a huge part of the batteries in just five minutes.

Speaking about the new model, Karsan’s CEO Okan Baş said: “e-ATA LE addresses the transport needs of long-range inner-city lines, as well as surrounding neighbouring cities, and while doing this, it re-identifies the standards in terms of passenger comfort, energy efficiency and operational flexibility. This model, developed in Class 2 segment – an important segment in the European public transport systems – provides a powerful and sustainable solution for transformation into electric mobility. e-ATA LE not only enhances comfort and distance, but also offers an efficient transport alternative that boasts maximum efficiency even in harsh weather conditions thanks to its advanced driver and passenger air-conditioning system. The heat pumping system in the new e-ATA LE model provides an efficient heating of up to -25°C, and this system also reduces heat-related energy consumption by up to 80%. Thanks to the ergonomically designed driver’s cabin and digital cockpit infrastructure as per the VDV standards, cutting-edge technology meets high driving comfort. Plus, its fully-integrated mirror camera and wide window design maximise the road and surrounding area visibility.

Karsan’s new fully-electric model e-ATA LE, developed for transportation from city centres to neighbouring cities and for long-range suburban lines, made its debut on the opening day of the fair on 16 June. 

Karsan stays strong in Europe in Q1 2025

A leading company in the electric and autonomous mobility transformation, Karsan not only showcased its new model at the UITP Summit 2025, but also its strong vehicle portfolio that re-identifies the standards in Europe. In addition to promoting its e-ATA LE, Karsan once again demonstrated its leading role in the sector with its e-JEST, an unbeatable leader of the European public transport minibus market for the last five years, and its Level-4 Autonomous e-ATAK, a first in the world to carry passengers in a planned route in the field of autonomous public transport. Karsan also attended a press meeting held on the opening day of the fair and shared data on its performance in the first quarter of 2025. The company revealed that it ranks sixth in the European electric minibus and bus market with a share of 6.2%. It wrapped up the quarter in second place in strategic markets such as the Romanian and Italian markets, and in fourth place in France. Karsan’s electric minibus model e-JEST, on the other hand, reached a market share of 51% in the first three months of the year, maintaining its apparent leadership in its segment. Today, Karsan operates with over 2,000 electric vehicles in 27 countries, and with its electricity experience of over 300 million kilometres, it continues to add new chapters to its strong success story in the field of sustainable mobility.
