Caddy Flexible
Very flexible, the Caddy Flexible is a true transformation artist: second seat row with three seats folded up as a partition; more assist systems on board, new TSI or TDI engines and, for the first time, a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) drive variant.

There has never been so much versatility: thanks to the new Caddy Flexible, you can quickly decide who or what to take with you. A second seat row that can be folded up and converted into a partition helps with this. The Caddy Flexible can therefore optionally carry two or up to five people or transport more goods and materials. With just one easy operation, the rear bench seat for up to three people can be converted into a partition for securing loads or vice versa. When the rear bench seat is folded up, material can be loaded through the sliding doors and naturally also at the rear. The highly variable Caddy Flexible can be ordered from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) with TSI petrol or TDI diesel engines and now optionally as a plug-in hybrid. The new Caddy eHybrid enables flexible locally emission-free driving with just one click.

So much choice: with the launch of the new Caddy from model year 2025, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is expanding its range of successful family passenger vans and urban delivery vans. Customers can now be on the road with petrol and diesel engines as usual. However, where desired or required, the Caddy and Caddy Cargo eHybrids can also be driven partially or purely electrically and thus locally with zero emissions.

More flexibility thanks to convertible second seat row

In addition, the Caddy range will be extended by an additional Flexible model with commercial N1 registration that can be ordered with normal and long wheelbases and in all engine variants. The special feature of the Caddy Flexible: the 3-seat bench in the second row can be easily folded up completely if required so that it becomes a stable load compartment partition. This means the load compartment can be enlarged in a matter of seconds. Users can therefore decide on a case-by-case basis whether two or up to five people can be carried or whether more goods, larger tools and materials are to be transported.

Thanks to a maximum load capacity of 2,500 litres in the Caddy Flexible with normal wheelbase or up to 3,100 litres in the Caddy Maxi, the respective transport requirements can be variably adapted. As the Caddy Flexible Maxi, up to two pallets can even be loaded behind each other, just like in models without a bench seat. The load compartment can be accessed through the two sliding doors. The rear load compartment can optionally be ordered with glazing or metal panelling.

The Caddy as the Flexible model variant will be introduced before the end of 2024, as will an additional TDI all-wheel drive Caddy variant. Both the Caddy Flexible and the Caddy eHybrid can already be pre-ordered.

Now also as PHEV: The number of drives for the Caddy is growing

In addition to the 2.0-litre TDI and the 1.5-litre TSI, a plug-in hybrid variant of the Caddy based on the 1.5-litre TSI with an output of 85 kW now expands the Caddy portfolio. Together with the electric drive unit, this Caddy eHybrid as a PHEV, short for “Plug-In-Hybrid Electric Vehicle”, has a system output of 110 kW and torque of up to 350 Nm. Thanks to a usable battery capacity of 19.7 kWh, electric ranges of up to 122 kilometres are possible. This drive can also be selected for the Caddy Flexible.

Very convenient: by clicking on the display, Caddy eHybrid users can decide for themselves when they want to use the electric range – for example, right at the start of the journey, in between, or whether they want to drive under purely electric power only when they reach the destination. A shift-by-wire automatic gearbox takes care of power transmission.

The drive battery in the Caddy eHybrid can also be recharged at home using DC chargers with up to 50 kW or AC wall boxes with 11 kW. The charging times of the Caddy eHybrid are up to 2.5 hours with AC at a maximum of 11 kW when charging from 0 to 100 per cent; with DC quick charging at an average of 40 kW, charging from 10 to 80 per cent takes around 26 minutes.

The Caddy eHybrid is available as a passenger van and as a Cargo version. Both are available with a normal wheelbase – as a passenger van with five seats and as a Cargo version with two seats. In addition, the PHEV Caddy is also available as a Maxi version with a long wheelbase, which can accommodate up to seven people as a passenger van. All plug-in hybrids are equipped with a six-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG).

As a passenger vehicle, the Caddy eHybrid from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles reaches a top speed of 183 km/h, with the Cargo eHybrid reaching 181 km/h. The combination of an agile electric drive and a powerful TSI petrol engine enables maximum efficiency and emission-free driving as required, for example, in cities or city centres, which may only be accessible to a limited extent in the future.

The new classic combustion engine models of the Caddy, such as the front-wheel drive TDI with 75 kW output, have a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, while the 90 kW variants have a seven-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG). The Caddy with TSI as a pure petrol engine vehicle with 85 kW is optionally available with a manual gearbox or direct shift gearbox (DSG). These variants can also already be ordered.

Euro NCAP Platinum award: numerous assist systems as standard

The Caddy Cargo of model year 2025 from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) has been enhanced with numerous assist systems. These include a digital instrument cluster, for example, which is now standard. The IDA voice assistant with ChatGPT function will from now on be optionally on board.

In future, all Caddy models will be equipped as standard with Dynamic Road Sign Display, cruise control system, Park Distance Control at the rear and Advanced Driver Attention & Drowsiness Monitor. The Cargo versions include additional systems such as additional side and curtain airbags, a multifunction camera, Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator, Lane Assist and Front Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist Monitoring. Another new standard feature in the Caddy Cargo is the multifunction steering wheel, which is already available in the passenger versions.

Thanks to these new assist systems, among other things, the Caddy Cargo from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles also achieved an improvement in the Euro NCAP Commercial Van Ratings and received the highest rating of Platinum in June 2024.
