Karsan, which has almost dominated Europe’s electric minibus market, is also ambitious in electric mobility with its e-JEST model. The market has almost doubled in a year
According to the European Minibus Market Report published by Wim Chatrou – CME Solutions in 2022 for the minibuses between 3.5-8 tons; Karsan e-JEST became the leader of the electric minibus market with a share of 28% as in the last two years. Karsan CEO Okan Baş stating that the electric minibus market in Europe grew by 84% in 2022 compared to the previous year, says “The market volume has almost doubled in just one year. We closed another year as the leader in the growing market, when our competitors started to gain strength, and for the third year in a row, we became the leader of the European electric minibus market with e-JEST. This is a very significant success not only for Karsan but also for the Turkish automotive industry. As a very strong model in markets such as France, Romania, Portugal, Bulgaria and Spain, Karsan e-JEST draws attention.” Emphasizing that every one of four electric minibuses sold in the European market is Karsan e-JEST, Okan Baş said, “e-JEST that we launched at the end of 2018 and put into service in 2019, continues to increase its success every year. In many European countries, people safely travel with e-JEST buses. This is also the best indicator of Karsan’s experience, advanced R&D and qualified employee expertise. In addition to e-JEST, our 8-meter-long e-ATAK model became the leader of the electric midibus segment in Europe for the second time in 2022. I believe that all Karsan models will maintain the same strong success rate in 2023.”
Passenger car comfort in public transportation
Proving itself with high maneuverability and unprecedented passenger comfort, e-JEST has a BMW electric engine producing 170 HP power and 290 Nm torque. With its batteries having BMW infrastructure, e-JEST offers a range of up to 210 kilometers and gives the best performance of the 6-meter electric minibus class. e-JEST regenerative braking system providing energy recovery can charge 25% of its batteries.
