A Kögel highlight at transport logistic 2019 is the Kögel Cargo with RoRo equipment. The Cargo Rail has of course also undergone the NOVUM-generation upgrade. The optimised external frame profile and the improved body not only make the Kögel Cargo Rail even more robust, but also simplify handling in daily use. In addition, the NOVUM-generation Cargo Rail scores with a very high degree of customisation and can thus be adapted to the specific requirements of forwarding companies. The trailer also makes a significant contribution to protecting the environment and to reducing CO2emissions. Thanks to its versatility – it can be used on roads, railways and ships – you can take optimum advantage of ferry and rail transport on main routes, and benefit from the truck’s flexibility for both pre-carriage and onward carriage.
Frame in Rail design
The Kögel Cargo Rail trailer comes with a highly stable, lightweight steel frame and a 120-millimetre-high frame neck. Of course, as a multimodal trailer, it also features the optimised external frame profile and improved body characteristic of the NOVUM-generation trailers.
In its basic form, the trailer has a tare weight starting at approx. 6,350 kilogrammes. The floor load-bearing capacity is designed to withstand high fork-lift axle loads of up to 7,200 kilograms. In addition to the well-known advantages of the NOVUM generation – such as the new air and lighting console on the front wall, which transfers the forces into the frame via the side members, the new external frame profile, which greatly improves the accessibility of the VarioFix lashing points, and the variable lattice pockets – the Kögel Cargo has extensive standard equipment. The 13 pairs of lashing shackles, included as standard, are now available with grip hooks at the sides for easier handling, and have a tensile force of 2,500 kg. The transport logistic showpiece features optimal load-securing, with the VarioFix perforated steel external frame equipped with an optional 24 pairs of lashing shackles, each shackle affording 2,500 kg of tensile force.
The gripper edges integrated into the frame, a gripper jaw tarpaulin protection made from aramid fabric and special axles in a rail design allow loading the NOVUM-generation Cargo Rail onto rails. This design makes the trailer ideal for flexible loading on the most prevalent rail pocket wagons and for a trestle height of 980 millimetres. Of course, the semi-trailer is also certified according to DIN EN 12642 Code XL and therefore also designed for transport on express freight trains with a speed of up to 140 km/h.
Other individual equipment at the trade show exhibit
The Kögel Cargo Rail can be fitted with heavy-duty RoRo equipment for unaccompanied ship and ferry transport. This includes a diagonal reinforcement between the side members and external frame, a 10 mm closed sliding plate, a 10 mm fifth-wheel plate, two suction valves and four pairs of heavy-duty lashing rings with 12,000 kg of test force. Mechanically reinforced semi-trailer supports in a ferry design with rollers completes the RoRo equipment.
The Strong & Go body option can also be seen on the Kögel Cargo Rail. This combines the innovative body of the NOVUM generation with a Kögel integral roof tarpaulin reinforced with stiffening belts. Thanks to this solution, lattices are no longer required to comply with DIN EN 12642 Code XL and Daimler Guideline 9.5 for the transport of pallet cages and strapped loads. For certified beverage transport, only one row of lattices is required for single-level and double-level beverage crates on standard pallets with the Strong & Go body, instead of three or four rows with the normal body.
To improve road safety and prevent turning accidents, this lightweight trailer is equipped with optional flashing side marker lights. The Kögel Cargo Rail is fitted with the new Kögel EasyFix Stopper for quick and easy securing of the sliding roof when open. The Kögel EasyFix Stopper not only holds the sliding roof securely in position, but also allows you to close it easily after completing the loading process, without having to unlock it again. This system increases efficiency and safety during loading and unloading. Further individual features include a 720-millimetre-long transition plate mounted above the rear end beam, a rear portal with steel posts, reinforced steel rubber bumpers, an 8-millimetre-thick transverse steel angle over the entire width mounted in the middle of the frame end plate, locking cam protection, tarpaulin cables with two mounts, Kögel LUXIMA-LED multi-chamber locking lights and much more.
