CNH Industrial officially opened its new plant in Cesena, Italy today. The production site is dedicated to mini-excavators and mini track loaders, including electric models.

The opening ceremony was attended by Enzo Lattuca, Mayor of Cesena and President of the Province of Forlì- Cesena, and Vincenzo Colla, Region Councillor for Economic Development, Emilia Romagna, together with Stefano Pampalone, President Construction at CNH Industrial and Federico Bullo, Head of Construction Europe at CNH Industrial.

Further to our acquisition of Sampierana S.p.A. at the end of 2021 and subsequent investment (€12 million), the Cesena plant is positioned to address rising mini-excavator production volumes. In the second half of 2023, production of the first mini track loaders under the CASE Construction Equipment brand will commence.

Together with Sampierana’s existing San Piero in Bagno site, we employ some 400 people in these construction-related activities in Italy’s Emilia Romagna region. These figures contribute to Italy having the most CNH Industrial plants and R&D centers in Europe.

President Colla commented: “Today’s inauguration represents an important investment for our region and has a strong symbolic value for this area, which is ready to restart and compete in the global market. The new plant, a Center of Excellence for compact construction machines, is testament to the quality of our skilled workforce, together with the vision of a large multinational with solid roots in the local area, that is always looking to the future.”

The Cesena site is expected to generate significant business within its supply chain. The renowned construction equipment produced there is sold internationally under the CASE Construction Equipment, New Holland Construction and Eurocomach brands.

At a time like this, little more than a month after the disastrous floods which hit our area, a manufacturing company that continues to expand is a positive sign for a community known for its courageous entrepreneurship. Together, we will continue to grow,” commented Mayor Lattuca.

Our strategy targeting international growth and the strengthening of the Construction segment in key markets is progressing well. And this is also thanks to the skills, innovative drive, passion and commitment of our people in Cesena and San Piero in Bagno,” said Stefano Pampalone. “Our decision to commence operations during this difficult time for the region, marks our company’s commitment to supporting a return to business activities in the area and aiding the communities affected by the floods.”
