With effect from July 2022, the silo and tanker manufacturer GRW is taking over the Schmitz Cargobull site for motor vehicle superstructures in Toddin, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. GRW Europe manufactures silo and tank trailers for the European market at the Toddin site. The production of Schmitz Cargobull motor vehicle bodies will be continued at the Toddin site. Schmitz Cargobull holds a 40 per cent stake in GRW Holdings and with this step the two companies are further strengthening their cooperation.
GRW was founded in 1996 in Worcester, South Africa, and is a leading developer and manufacturer of high-quality tank and silo trailers. Schmitz Cargobull supplies vehicle components to GRW and holds a stake in the company since the end of 2017.
GRW has been selling silo and tank trailers to the European market for several years. In order to strengthen GRW’s European market presence, the company took over the Schmitz Cargobull production site in Toddin to manufacture and assemble tankers for Europe, with a planned production of more than 100 vehicles in the current year 2022. “With the production site in Germany, we are strengthening the GRW brand and sending a clear signal as to our commitment in Europe. We can react faster to fulfil the specific wishes of our customers and, with Schmitz Cargobull as a partner, further expand our range of products and services,” explains Gerhard van der Merwe (CEO) and Dirk Nuxoll (MD), of GRW Europe.
The GRW silo and tank trailers will be equipped with the TrailerConnect telematics system and will in future be fitted with the Schmitz Cargobull MODULOS running gear and ROTOS axles. GRW is also available as a service partner for both its own and Schmitz Cargobull vehicles for repair and maintenance.
